Ball milling

Blacklake Systems have been grinding various products for many years and have built a reputation for contamination free size reduction. Blacklake Systems offer both Dry and Wet ball milling.

Dry grinding

With many years of experience and the use of good quality alumina media along with porcelain lined ball mills we are able to offer consistent, contamination free size reduction.

Materials ground include glass frits, recycled glass, silicon’s, bone ash, magnesium oxide, mica, glass fibre, rutile sand and various nitrates/oxides.

In more recent times Blacklake Systems Ltd are more active with the recycling of what would have been referred to as waste products. These products are now being re-introduced to production plants and actually assist in the manufacture of the various original products. Products such as ceramic filters, alumina, saggers and ceramic thermocouples have been reworked. The list and possibilities are endless.

Wet grinding

As with dry grinding but with the introduction of water and tray drying, generally a finer specification can be obtained.

Predominantly glazes and alumina have been wet ground but there are occasion to wet grind other materials which require a finer specification.

Once ground the wet slop can be tray dried, retaining a required moisture level, and supplied as a cake or can be dried and then reground to a powder.

All materials either dry or wet ground are passed through a vibro screen plant prior to packaging to customers requirement. Tubs, bags and IBC’s are the standard requirement but customers may request other forms of packaging.
